April 2009: What can Sportsman Massage do for me?

Hello,

Do you believe we’re going into the last month of Autumn? Have you felt the chill in the early morning and evening? Most days however are still sunny and warm. As Winter is not a favourite season for many, I encourage you to enjoy this beautiful weather we are experiencing. Spend more time than usual outdoors as this is truly a gift to brighten our days. Find inspiration in the beautiful mornings and the spectacular sunsets at this time of year. Remember to take a breath as you appreciate these glorious days. Have a great month! Wishing all a very Happy Mother’s day on the 10th.

Sports massage feedback:I have received such good feedback regarding Sports massage when using the techniques for anti-stress therapy. Clients cannot believe the relief felt even before getting up from the table. And for days afterwards people are still astounded by the increased movement in their muscles. And the more they have, the more they want as the cumulative results are very noticeable. So I encourage you to book your appointment now—and take advantage of the current limited offer (see below)

The benefits of Sports massage

Massage, applied skillfully, is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the muscular-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help you prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves. These muscle imbalances may develop and often go undiagnosed until they are serious enough to cause you discomfort or impede performance. The skilled massage therapist will be able to detect variations in the soft tissues and by using the correct techniques, help you maintain a much healthier physical state.

It may therefore be reasonably claimed that one of the greatest benefits of sports massage is in helping to prevent injury.

Thought for the week - The Power of a Hug

clock April 26, 2009 11:28 by author Michele

THE POWER OF A HUG

There's something in a simple hug that always warms the heart;
It welcomes us back home, and makes it easier to part.

A hug's the way to share the joy and sad times we go through,
Or just a way for friends to say they like you ‘cuz you're you!

Hugs are meant for anyone for whom we really care . . .
From your grandma to your neighbor, or a cuddly teddy bear.

A hug is an amazing thing — it's just the perfect way
To show the love we're feeling, but can't find the words to say.

It's funny how a little hug makes everyone feel good;
In every place and language, it's always understood.

 And hugs don't need equipment,
special batteries, or parts . . .
Just open up your arms and open up your heart!

Wishing you a week full of hugs!

Thought for the week - Dust if You Must

clock April 19, 2009 19:00 by author Michele

Dust if you must...
But wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed,
Ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must...
But there's not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must...
But the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must...
But bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind,
And when you go — and go you must,
You, yourself will make ... MORE dust!

It's Not What You Gather But...
What You Scatter...

...That Shows What... Kind Of Life You Have Lived.

Wishing you a dust free week!

Thought for the week - It's Up To you

clock April 12, 2009 18:15 by author Michele

One song can spark a moment,

One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what's true.
One life can make the difference,
You see, IT'S UP TO YOU!
Wishing you a week of making a difference!

Interesting little fact - What is the origin of the Easter Egg?

clock April 12, 2009 12:41 by author Michele

First Imperial Faberge Egg - 1885

From earliest times, and in most cultures, the egg signified rebirth and resurrection.
The Egyptians buried eggs in their tombs. The Greeks placed eggs atop graves.
Given as gifts by the ancient Greeks, Persians, and Chinese at their spring festivals,
the egg also appears in pagan mythology, where we read of the Sun-Bird being hatched
from the "World Egg".

The ancient Saxons celebrated the return of spring with a festival commemorating their goddess of offspring and of springtime — "Eastre" — through her earthly symbol, the rabbit.

Eggs were wrapped with gilt or gold leaf, while peasants often dyed their eggs.

The tinting was achieved by boiling the eggs with certain flowers, leaves, log wood chips, or
the cochineal insect. Spinach leaves or anemone petals were considered best for green; the
bristly gorse blossom for yellow; and log wood for rich purple and the cochineal for scarlet.

Thought for the week - Cheerful Thoughts Lighten Darkest Fears

clock April 5, 2009 05:25 by author Michele

CHEERFUL THOUGHTS LIGHTEN DARKEST FEARS

Cheerful thoughts like sunbeams

Lighten up the "darkest fears,"
For when the heart is happy,
There's just no time for tears.

And when the face is smiling,
It's impossible to frown,
And when you are "high-spirited,"
You cannot feel "low-down."

For the nature of our attitude
Toward circumstantial things,
Determines our acceptance

Of the problems that life brings.

And since fear and dread and worry

Cannot help in any way,
It's much healthier and happier

To be cheerful every day.

And if you'll only try it
You will find, without a doubt,
A cheerful attitude's something
No one should be without.

For when the heart is cheerful,
It cannot be filled with fear,
And without fear, the way ahead,
Seems more distinct and clear.
