Thought for the week - Teach and Learn Enthusiasm

Teach/Learn Enthusiasm By Zelig Pliskin
Give a person enthusiasm and you have given him a key to success. Enthusiasm isn’t everything, but it goes far.

By helping someone increase his level of enthusiasm, you increase his potential for success when meeting new people.

Enthusiasm is energy. And energy is what you need to get up and go.
Unfortunately, there are many of whom it can be said, "His get up and go has gotten up and gone." Don’t let that be said about you. Be enthusiastic about increasing the enthusiasm of others.

There is external enthusiasm that increases internal enthusiasm. This is when you sincerely want to be enthusiastic, just that you aren’t spontaneously in this state. By acting externally the way you want to feel internally, you will increase your inner enthusiasm.

What are you spontaneously enthusiastic about?
Ask this of yourself and of those you want to help increase their level of enthusiasm. Remember your most enthusiastic moments. Recall what you saw. See that vividly now. Recall how you sounded when you spoke with intense enthusiasm. Feel those feelings once again. By being able to access the state of enthusiasm at will, you will be able to transfer this to others.

Model enthusiastic people. Find people who are highly enthusiastic.
Interview them and find out what thoughts and attitudes enable them to be enthusiastic. Practice talking the way they talk. Mirror their body language. The same way that you will experience more enthusiasm by mirroring enthusiastic people, so too you can help others become more enthusiastic by mirroring you when you are enthusiastic. Speak about something that you are enthusiastic about and ask the person you wish to inspire to mirror you. Have him speak in the same manner about something that arouses his enthusiasm. Keep giving him feedback about his tone of voice and body language.

Build up your own enthusiasm for doing acts of kindness.
And do what you can to influence others to be enthusiastic about doing acts of kindness. This will have a powerful effect on many lives as the chain reaction keeps spreading.

Wishing you a very enthusiastic week – no matter what happens!

Newsletters - July 2009: Can Getting A Regular Massage Make You Healthier?

clock July 23, 2009 21:33 by author Michele

July 2009: Can Getting A Regular Massage Make You Healthier?

Hello, This month, I invite you to unwind and disengage from the harassment of daily life. By listening to some relaxing music, scenting the gentle fragrance of essential oils, and feeling the know-how of my expert hands you will be transported to a magical place even if just for the duration of your massage. Call me and book your magical journey today! Have a great month!

Massages...they're not just for the wealthy anymore.

It has been confirmed that everyone can benefit from massages - both men and women. According to their research the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research (MFMER) reported there are health benefits attributed to regular massage. They confirmed that human touch is actually GOOD for both physical and mental reasons, while many people haven't attributed health and wellness with it.

What massage can do for you:
Anxiety: Massage reduces anxiety. It also reduces anxiety and withdrawal symptoms in adults trying to quit smoking. Ok, who doesn't have anxiety in our crazy world? This one alone should add massage to your monthly schedule.

Pain: Pain is decreased in studies of people with fibromyalgia, migraines and recent surgeries when treated regularly with massage. Back pain may almost certainly be relieved with massage.

Sports-Related Soreness: Some athletes receive massages after exercise, especially to the muscles they use most in their sport or activity. A massage helps increase blood flow to your muscles and may reduce muscle soreness after you exercise. While the avid athlete already knows about this one, you may find it benefits you, just a regular person going to the gym or suffering from desk/office repetitive stress syndrome.

Immune System: Massage studies show an increased number of natural killer cells, which are thought to defend the body from viral and cancer cells. Therefore massage should assist your body in removing toxins and infections through the art of manipulating the muscles and the lymph, thereby helping the body heal itself.

Cancer Treatment: People with cancer who received regularly-scheduled massage therapy during treatment report less anxiety, pain and fatigue.

Self-Esteem: Because massage involves direct contact with another person through touch, it can make you feel cared for. That special attention can improve self-image in people with physical disabilities and terminal illnesses. And who can't use a little more self esteem? This is just one more good reason for you to get that weekly message.

In these cold months when motivation is low and your body is feeling that it needs some nourishment and nurturing, do your self and your body a favour; book a body therapy today and feel the difference!

Thought for the week - Everything You Need for Happiness

clock July 19, 2009 20:50 by author Michele

Everything You Need for Happiness

What do you need to be happy?
Do you need a fancy car and a mansion and millions of dollars? If you could have every single desire granted to you right now, would you be happy then? Or can you be happy now, with what you have?

Can you look at the gorgeous sky, and realize what a miracle it is?
Can you look at a sunset, a forest, a flower, a child, and realize the miracle of each of these things? You probably can, if you take the time to look at them fully. And then you might realize that your eyes are a miracle, and that they allow you to see each of these other miracles. If you have your eyes, you have all you need for happiness. What if you are blind? Can you taste chocolate, or strawberries, or cinnamon, or tears, and realize what a miracle those things are? Can you hear Mozart, or John Lennon, or Jack Johnson, and have your soul fill up with happiness? Then you already have all you need for happiness.

All you need is the present moment:
spend time with a loved one, talk with a friend, watch a funny movie, go swimming in refreshing water, smell fresh baked bread, go for a walk or a run, curl up with a good book, cuddle on a rainy day, give and receive a hug. It’s true — this is the only thing you need to know: Stop waiting for happiness. Happiness is right here, right now.

Wishing you a truly wonderfully happy week!

Thought for the week - Freedom of the Mind

clock July 12, 2009 20:47 by author Michele

Freedom of the Mind

"Everything can be taken from a man or a woman but one thing:
the last of human freedoms to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances,
to choose one's own way." Viktor Frankl – Man’s Search for Meaning

More and more, we self-impose limitations on our worth, our value, our integrity.
We believe what we see around us and assume the illusion is real. We do daily battle with the very spirit inside us and shackle our potential in chains of obligation and expectations. Worst of all, we imprison our creativity by denying ourselves freedom of possibility and fantastic possibility. As we notice these precious freedoms falling prey to our thoughts and fears, we understand the importance of the freedom of our minds.

Freedom of Attitude

As Frankl pointed out in his masterpiece, Man’s Search for Meaning,
the one true freedom remains the ability to choose one’s attitude in any given situation. When we shift our attitudes, and hence our automatic observations, from seeing problems to finding the good in everyone and everything we encounter, we reach levels of happiness and positive energy which bring us peace of mind.

Freedom of Potential

As we grow older we rely on ourselves to break free from the limitations of self-doubt
and entertain the full symphony of our own potential. No one can express your potential but you! Your vision, your drive and your confidence work in concert with your spirit to express the crescendo of your abilities in harmonious orchestration by living a life worthy of all your talents. You are the conductor holding the baton of purpose and directing your life.

Freedom to grow

When you examine the expanse of the container of your spirit,
you gauge your ability to change and grow from the allowance of space permitted yourself. If you limit your spiritual environment to a small community of like minded individuals, this may feed your soul, but leave you hungry for the nutrients only bountiful gardens can provide. When you sow the seeds of possibility and hunger for more knowledge, information and wisdom, you expand the harvest of your life to include a wide variety of endeavors and experiences.

Freedom to love

So often, we consider ourselves unworthy of love.
In humble self-deprecation, we hear ourselves deny our lovability, or become embarrassed when someone acknowledges how much we mean to them. As Gerald Jampolsky pointed out, “Love is the total absence of fear.” When we live in fear, we live not only outside of love, but inside the confines of stagnation. In giving ourselves the freedom to love – to give, to receive, and truly accept love – we fill our lives with the warmth that only sincere expressions of emotion bring.

You alone are responsible for your thoughts – whether they empower you or destroy your spirit. The freedom of your mind knows no boundary but what you draw around you. When we use the power of attitude to view life in a more positive way, we find we free ourselves from the doubt of our potential; we allow ourselves to continue to learn and grown in magnificent ways and to experience love to our fullest and best imagination!

Wishing you a week of freedom!

Thought for the week - 10 Ways to Nurture Soulful Living

clock July 5, 2009 20:44 by author Michele

10 Ways to Nurture Soulful Living

1. Tell The Truth

We speak in terms of "searching our soul" when we need to find answers for life's deep questions. The soul is the seat of our own truth and demands it. We must seek the truth and tell it. Skate by the truth as your soul knows it, and sooner or later, you'll be back to re-visit the subject you avoided. The soul settles for nothing less than the bare naked truth.

2. Spend Time In Nature

Live close to the earth and you'll know its soul. When you know the soul of nature, you'll know your own. Spend time in the natural world and allow yourself to connect with all living things and you will find your place in the order of life. You will see yourself as a part of nature, no more and no less than the stars and the trees. The soul rests in the natural world.

3. Experience Your Experience

The soul is a junkie for experience. It loves it all! The soul has no preference for pain or joy; just a demand that we experience whatever is true in the moment. When grief or sadness are upon you, feel them, experience them. Through these harder emotions, new doors open and greater freedom enters. When joy and passion are present, live them out loud. The soul is a glutton for living with gusto!

4. Live On The Edge

"Man is so made that when anything fires his soul, impossibilities vanish." --Jean De La Fontaine

Live out to the edges of your life. That's where the soul thrives. The soul seeks possibilities that can only be found beyond what is already known, safe and comfortable. It does not understand the meaning of "impossible". What is already known is already known. To the soul, the "juice" lies in the unknown, where all things are possible. The soul calls us to come to the edge, and then go beyond.

5. Learn To Dance In The Rain

There will be times in your life when the sun doesn't shine. Dance anyway. There will be times when life is painful. Dance with your pain. The soul is naturally drawn to the dark, tight places inside. Its job is to expand those places so the light can shine into and through them. Dance with whatever cards you're dealt, then tell the truth about it. The soul is nothing if not an excellent dancer. Give it the dance floor and step aside!

6. Uncontrollable Belly Laughter

Laughter is good medicine for the soul. Nothing can uplift the spirit and lighten the soul like a good laugh that starts at your belly and explodes through your whole body. It's orgasmic! The soul needs orgasms as much as the body needs them. Who do you laugh with? Have a "laughter date" at least once a week. It's OK to be silly, hokey, corny, all the things your ego wouldn't deign to be. Get a grip and let her rip!

"The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire." -- Ferdinand Foch

7. Meditation

To meditate is to enter the soul's inner temple. Here, you'll hear the soul's whisper. Meditation is like drinking water after crawling through the desert. It quenches the soul's thirst for silence and stillness.

8. Keep A Journal

Having kept a journal for over thirty years, looking back, I see than many of the same questions are with me today as thirty years ago, I'm just on a different turn of the wheel. I'm taking a deeper cut. I'm more surrendered to the wisdom unfolding as my life. All of this comes through my writing as I see my soul's process over the long arc of time expressed on the pages of my journal. It's a living document that you were here, you lived a life, you loved, you lost, you learned. Be sure to record your dreams, which are the language of the soul.

9. Love Fully

At the end of the day, how much did you love? Were you a lover of life, the world? Did you love with a big, wide, open, generous heart? Did you love without conditions? This is what will matter when you come to the finish line. The soul is here to learn to love it all, even and perhaps especially, those things the ego thinks are unlovable. Love the unlovable parts of yourself and others and your soul will find peace.

10. Bring A Sense Of The Sacred

To the soul, it's all holy. It's all sacred. Every moment, every experience, every blade of grass, every bug that crawls, every baby that cries, every tear that's shed, every gesture of love, every act of kindness..... It’s all sacred. To bring a sense of the sacred to every moment is to live out the mission of the soul.

"To live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory." --Howard Zinn

Wishing you a nurturing week!
