September 2009: Stress Management using Massage

Hi there,

And so we come closer to the end of the year, feeling more stressed and frazzled than normal. Coming out of the winter months, and expecting to feel happiness and joy and full of life, we feel lethargic, stressed and, in some cases, even depressed.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of, or introduce you to, the wonderful healing modality of massage. It has been proved that massage can help you become less stressed and feel great yourself. Massage using guided visualization and meditation allows your mind to slip into a Theta state in order for your body to receive the nurturing and relaxation it so deserves—and is crying out for. It is becoming more and more widely recognized that massage is not just for the wealthy but is consistently required in order to allow the body to function properly and create a path to whole health.

Wishing you a wonderful month of allowing yourself time to become whole again.

How can Massage REDUCE Stress?

It is amazing what massage can actually do! Consistent, uniform sessions of massage create a receptive environment for whole health. The message to relax and to let the body function properly is relayed with every session received. The body, mind and spirit respond to this technique, allowing for overall self-improvement.

What stress is:

Stress is part of life. Without stressors we would have no challenge, no stimulation—what would excite us? To be alive is to experience stress. Some people function best under stress, while others cannot move. How people adapt to stress dictates the effect the stressor will have on them.Pick up a book or article on stress today; within the first few lines you are likely to discover that disease and stress are closely connected. Each time a person overreacts to the experience of a negative stress factor, the proper flow of energy throughout the body is disrupted, allowing weakness to begin. Ultimately the body system may become too congested and begin to shut down, causing a break somewhere in the proper function of our miraculous body. Massage can assist in combating this. Stress is a very real physiological reaction. Undue stress causes a rapid release of hormones into the bloodstream as the body prepares to use more energy. To be constantly “on” is what produces chronic stress. Many people do not know how to slow down.

Reducing stress:

Holistic mean whole. Energy means life. Medicine means to heal. Whole-life healing is the practice of holistic energy medicine which massage forms part of. Through massage we assist the receiver in helping themselves by using the whole-body concept. The only true healer is the body, mind and spirit of the person doing the receiving. The balance of all three elements—body, mind and soul—is essential for true wellness. Physical health exists when all systems are functioning at the best for the individual, who is then full of zest and exuberance. A healthy environment is essential and includes the food you eat, the water you drink and the air you breathe. Honouring your living space and those you live and work with is also part of whole health.

Massage, meditation and visualization with me can help you achieve this. So book your session today to complete your path to wellness.

Thought for the week - Desire Is the Fire of Life

clock September 27, 2009 10:54 by author Michele

Desire Is the Fire of Life © Max Stein

The key that insures your success in any endeavor, is desire.
If you are willing to pay the price,
even your circumstances will change.
If you want something badly enough,
you are sure to get it.

Reality forms around the commitments you make.
Your desires will in time externalize themselves into concrete facts.

Obstacles don't matter very much.
Pain or other circumstances can be there.
But if you want to do something bad enough,
you'll find a way to get it done.

You only have to love a thing greatly to get it.

Wishing you a week full of desire – and remembering that what we ask for is what we get, so be sure you’re asking for what you want in the correct manner. And also look very carefully at what you receive – you may be receiving what you ask for in a manner you did not anticipate. Be aware of this – as sometimes when adversity happens, you need to think about what the outcome will be and is that not what you asked for?

Have fun with this!

Thought for the Week - Don't Believe in Miracles, Depend on Them

clock September 20, 2009 10:52 by author Michele

Don't Believe in Miracles, Depend on Them (Max Stein)

You don't need an explanation for everything.
Recognize that there are such things as miracles,
events for which there are no explanations.
Later, knowledge may explain those events quite easily.

The fact that you can plant a seed and it becomes a flower,
share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another's,
smile at someone and receive a smile in return are common miracles.

Your duty to yourself is to believe
that for which you have sufficient evidence,
and to suspend your judgment when you have not.
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Some things have to be believed to be seen.
Vision is the art of seeing invisible things.

Wishing you a week full of unexplained miracles!

Thought for the week - The Wisdom of Today

clock September 13, 2009 10:49 by author Michele

The Wisdom of Today Eric Jordan

We often wish for more, without realizing that life's most precious treasures

are often within the palms of our hands.

It is not success, but rather the journey there, that often makes our lives complete.

We are most at peace with the world, when we accept the wonderful and amazing creature . . . that is . . . ourselves.

When we give our all TODAY; and look forward to giving tomorrow the same,

then there is no reason for regretting our yesterdays.

Despise not the past, for in it lies the wisdom of today, and the hope of tomorrow.

Wishing you a week full of acknowledgment of your past

Thought for the week - Rebirth and renewal

clock September 6, 2009 10:44 by author Michele

When we look to Nature, we see that rebirth and renewal are a standard part of life.

And like the newness of the Spring, we get to start over with the wisdom

that we’ve learned from our past experience of what works and what doesn’t.

Life is giving us a clean slate to create anew.

We can choose to focus on where we’re going, not where we’ve been. You can’t move forward on your path when you’re looking behind you. Imagine the results of hiking up a trail while looking backwards. It wouldn’t work very well. Life is the same way- we must focus on the destination.

We can only have one thought in our minds at the same time, so choose to make it make it a good thought. Beating yourself up for what may appear to be a failure serves no one. We have a limited amount of energy and it is far better to spend it creating the new life we desire rather than berating ourselves over the failures of the past.

Forgive yourself and others and move forward. Life will be a much happier place when we realize there is blessing in every situation, even the one that created the opportunity to rebuild. Sometimes it takes a few years before we’re able to see it, but whether we can see it or not, the blessing is always there.

Adversity in our lives isn’t always a bad thing. We grow only through change, both external and internal. Adversity can be turned to opportunity simply by adjusting our perception and our attitude. We are creatures of habit and taking the leap to do something different - whether voluntary or not - often causes fear. Many times we allow that fear of the unknown to hold us back from experiencing all that life has to offer. Instead, step forward toward your goal, harness the fear that you feel and let it be your motivator.

Fear, properly channeled, can be rocket fuel to reaching your dreams. Sometimes the new path can look overwhelming. That’s when we have to remember that just as we can climb an entire mountain with baby steps, one small action a day will help rebuild our new life.Keep the faith and move forward with gratitude and new doors will be opened unto you. For when you are grateful, more blessings will flow your way.

Always remember, you’re not alone. Connect to your community and to whatever greater Source you believe in. Ask for help and it will be there for you.

Through faith, courage, and an attitude of gratitude, you can accomplish anything.

Wishing you a week of awareness and growth!
